I am creating a presentation that includes a couple of equations.  When I'm
editing in slide view, they appear just fine.  When I switch to Slideshow mode,
everything on the page appears just fine, but there is no equation.

I have a file to attach.  What is the mime type of an OO Impress file?

I tried again after completing my presentation in PowerPoint 2000. 
When I imported the presentation into Impress, some of the equations
displayed, some did not.  It was unclear as to the pattern of how
Impress decided whether or not to display the equations.

This sounds like a bug which is fixed in the OOo1.1Beta2.
Please test this bug in the OOo1.1Beta2 again.
