Reassigned to Bettina. OpenOffice.org Issue Tracker - Feedback Request. The Issue you raised is currently 'Unconfirmed' pending review, but has not been updated within the last 3 years. Please consider re-testing with one of the latest versions of OOo, as the problem(s) may have already been addressed. Either use the recent stable version: http://download.openoffice.org/index.html or consider trying the new OOo 3 BETA (still in testing): http://download.openoffice.org/3.0beta/ Please report back the outcome so this Issue may be Closed or Progressed as necessary - otherwise it may be Resolved as Invalid in the future. You may also wish to search for (and note) any duplicates of this Issue that may have advanced further by checking the Issue Tracker: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/query.cgi Many thanks, Andrew Cleaning-up and Closing old Issues as part of: ~ The Grand Bug Squash, pre v3 ~ http://marketing.openoffice.org/3.0/announcementbeta.html *** Issue 108392 has been marked as a duplicate of this issue. *** *** Issue 108392 has been marked as a duplicate of this issue. *** *** Issue 108392 has been marked as a duplicate of this issue. *** Yes, this issue is valid for OO Writer 3.1.1 too. I think this is a major importance feature. There are LOTS of users who use formulas in their documents, and only a few of them CAN learn this TEX language. It's pretty uncomfortable. The UI shoult be intuitive! Assume that user is user, not developer. Working with "code" should be a think a user CAN avoid. Working with formulas in raw mode is one of the things why I feel not very in my right mind when using Open Office Writer formula editor. One specific requirement, for example. The user can click at a place in formula and arrive to appropriate place in code. The next thing a user wants to do is to select a part of formula by mouse to copy it and to paste it into another place. Unfortunately, this can be done only by selecting a part of CODE now - pretty uncomfortable. 1) create formula "z = sqrt{x^2 + y^2}" in O O writer - this can be easily done by a newbie, just using the "selection" toolbar 2) get a wish to create another formula "2 sqrt{x^2 + y^2}" 3) see that you can't do it otherwise than copying the "sqrt{x^2 + y^2}" thing in the code or by doing the input through the "selection" toolbar a second time 4) see that you'll have either to learn TeX (awful thought for a new user) or to do a lot of monotonous mechanical work 5) feel sad that copy and paste aren't practically available in Open Office formula editor yes, this feature would be very nice to have To grep the issues easier via "requirements" I put the issues currently lying on my owner to the owner "requirements". |
