Description jehojakim 2003-01-20 20:37:44 UTC
I installed 1.0.2 alongside of 1.0.1 as root. If I call soffice in the ~/program
dir, the writer freezes after a few (two sometines three) mouseclicks or
keyboard pressings. It freezes to quickly to determine the build. When called
from the commandline, it returns

Xlib: unexpected async reply (sequence 0x23ca)!

(the exclamation mark included); after that it has to be killed to let the
window disappear.

My distro is SuSE 8.1; kernel 2.4.19-4GB

I just guessed 'code' as subcomponent.

I'm sorry I'm unable to provide a stacktrace, maybe due to my ignorance.

I get this error as well (the sequence number varies) a few seconds
after starting soffice. I'm using the 1.0.2 binary distibution
installed into /usr/local/OpenOffice/.

My setup is RH 7.1 (glibc 2.2.4), XFree86 4.2.99.3 (built w/ gcc
3.2.1), kernel 2.4.20-preempt.

Sounds nasty... but might be an X server problem.
I've run into those on Debian 3.0 myself; sometimes
it's a bad font.

Can you try a fresh install of the latest version of your
Linux distribution, plus a fresh install of OpenOffice1.1beta2
or later?

Thanks!

I didn't get the error in the 1.1 branches. Should I have reported
this earlier? Thanks anyway for solving!
