Reassigned to US Meanwhile I have repeated installation *with* java. Nothing changes besides that soffice doesn't print the message "javaldx:..." (see above). Someone at gentoo.org forum gets exactly the same error. He says that this is happening since he has upgraded to glibc-2.3.1. I can confirm this with aggravarion : I installed (*big* mistake !) glibc 2.3.1 an I am suffering a lot of problems with Writer (both with 643C and 1.0.1 : I have documents that I can no longer open (crash when trying to open with 643C) or edit (crash after moving a footnote). I can't send them for analysis 'cause they treat matters not mine to publish. Sorry. I'm using Debian, mostly stable, but I had to upgrade to glibc 2.3.1 to please CUPS ... I'd like to hike the priority to P1, because this si, IMHO, a showstopper, but only the owner is entitled to do so ... (i. e. major functionality loss and source of lost data). I can reproduce this error with a fresh install of 643C: start OpenOffice, type something with lowercase, type enter, and click on the help icon in the lower left corner. --> /home/rschoef/OpenOffice/program/soffice.bin: relocation error: /home/rschoef/OpenOffice/program/libsvx643li.so: symbol _ZN7EditDocC1EP11SfxItemPool, version UDK_3_0_0 not defined in file libsal.so.3 with link time reference system: debian (sid), glibc 2.3.1, j2sdk 1.3.1 As you noticed, this is said to be a bug in glibc-2.3.1, fixed in 2.3.2. See issue 10210 and issue 11706. Supposedly a workaround if you can't change glibc versions is env LD_BIND_NOW=yes ooffice reopening to mark as dup Duplicate *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 10210 *** This task in status 'resolved duplicated' and will be closed now. If you don't think, that this task is fixed when the referenced bug is fixed, please re-open this task. If the referenced task is not fixed, please wait until it is fixed.
