Announcing Apache OpenOffice 3.4

Switching to newer workspaces

1. Overview

The L10N-Framework allows switching from older workspaces to newer once without loosing UI translations. This chapter describes the workflow for doing this.

2. Workflow

Changing the workspace during the process of localization of UI is split up in several steps:

First step: UI localization of current workspace. This is described in How to localize and build OpenOffice.

Second step: Getting the new workspace.

Third step: Merging localized strings and messages of the current workspace into the new workspace. This is described in Merging back translated strings and Messages.

4th step: Switching over to the new workspace

5th step: Extraction of strings and messages out of the new workspace: This is described in Extraction of strings and messages. The result of extraction will contain localized strings and messages and also changed and new once.

Apache OpenOffice is an effort undergoing incubation at The Apache Software Foundation (ASF), sponsored by the Apache Incubator. Incubation is required of all newly accepted projects until a further review indicates that the infrastructure, communications, and decision making process have stabilized in a manner consistent with other successful ASF projects. While incubation status is not necessarily a reflection of the completeness or stability of the code, it does indicate that the project has yet to be fully endorsed by the ASF.
