Contacting OpenOffice.org

hello OpenOffice.org fan!

We want your experience with OpenOffice.org to be a great success! We hope the information contained in this Contact page will enable us to serve your needs better.

So, if you're contacting us about ....

... OpenOffice.org Site Support

  • A large majority of answers about using the OpenOffice.org site, especially for new users who have just joined, can be found in site's Get Help section.
  • If "Get Help" has not addressed your concern, website problems can be communicated through one of the following means:
    1. File a bug/issue - if you don't have an account, see our Issues page for how to open an account, search to see if your issue has already been reported in IssueTracker, and if its not been, submit an issue. It's quick and easy (really).
    2. Send the webmasters mail: webmasters@openoffice.org
The webmasters will not respond to product support questions. If you ARE in need of support, more than likely your e-mail will be routed elsewhere. However, it's likely you can greatly speed up your support request yourself, by checking out the User FAQ Project or the Support Project.

... Product Support

  • Still having a few problems using OpenOffice.org? Please go to our Support page. Here you will find tutorials, usage guides and books and an interactive form to help you search for existing bugs. We also list professional and community support as a courtesy.
  • StarOffice support: OpenOffice.org does not provide assistance with StarOffice. Please visit the StarOffice Support Center; or Sun's SupportForum

... Security issues

  • For security issues, please read our Security FAQ
  • If you are a software developer and believe you have found a vulnerability in our software, please go to our Security page and tell us about it!

... OpenOffice.org Mailing Lists

One of the primary means of participating and gaining insights into OpenOffice.org is through mailing lists.
  • The most popular mail lists are listed here.
  • If you are not subscribed to a certain list, it is nevertheless possible to search the lists archives for answers on questions like yours. Archives of the most popular lists are on the Mail List page.
  • Read the Guidelines before posting, and recall, all mail is public. We expect all who post to a list to abide by the Guidelines. Our lists are friendly and productive forums and we try to keep them that way.
  • All mail sent to the OpenOffice.org lists is public. It is not private. Mail sent to any of our lists is potentially viewable by millions. Even mail sent to the webmasters list is not like mail sent to the support offered by corporations. It may become public.
