This page is meant to provide information on using the OpenOffice.org logos and banners for those interested in linking to or distributing OpenOffice.org as CDs, or via a download mirror.

Using the OpenOffice.org logos and banners

In addition to the official OpenOffice.org logo, we also have the Community Distributor banner, CD-ROM labels, and other graphics. You need permission to use any of these on your website, CDs, or printed collateral. To obtain permission, please contact the Community Manager.

We are further interested in tracking all use of OpenOffice.org graphics. Please indicate, then, in an email message to the Community Manager:

  • The name of your company and its website address, if any
  • The purpose of the company (what it does)
  • Who you are and your relation to the company

    • Community Distributor

    A Community Distributor is a person or corporation distributing OpenOffice.org software, either as a download mirror or as a CD-ROM distributor. (See the FAQ below on selling CDs of OpenOffice.org.) In order to become a Community Distributor, read over the provisions on the Distribution Project. Approved Community Distributors may use the "Community Distributor" banner and are free to link to OpenOffice.org.

    Trademark

    Because of trademark issues, OpenOffice.org must insist that all public communications refer to the project and software as "OpenOffice.org" or "OpenOffice.org 1.x," and not "OpenOffice" or "Open Office." "OpenOffice.org" is trademarked and protected in the USA.

    Logos and Banners

    Below are the logos and banners available to Community Distributors and others interested in linking to OpenOffice.org. To use any of these, you must first obtain permission from the Community Manager. The logo cannot be used in parts: you have to use it in its entirety.
